Lincolnland District
Goals for
2010-2011
It is very easy to set goals for the Lincolnland District. There is a blueprint left by those who have served before me that serves as a guide. As usual, there is no need to reinvent the wheel.
Growth
It is
incumbent on each member and each club to help increase membership in Exchange.
Each one of
us knows at least one person who would make a great Exchangite. In a perfect
world, it would be a given that we could recruit these people just because we
want them. In the real world it is much harder. We ask, we have guest nights,
we pull them in to help on various projects, but we don’t get them as members.
So let’s set a realistic goal of increasing our membership by 70. That’s a
shade over 2 new members per club. By Shining the light of Exchange, we can do it.
There are
many areas in our District that need Exchange clubs. Many communities need
Exchange, and Exchange needs many communities. It is a realistic goal that we
can build at least two new clubs this year.
An absolute
in Exchange is the retention of members. Most new members are gone within 5
years. We need to make Lincolnland an
exception to that statistic. We need to identify and share the methods that
work in our most successful clubs, so that we can help all our clubs. I will be
appointing a committee to gather the best practices in our District, and to
share them with all our clubs. We have a goal of 90% retention.
Training
In order to
be successful with both growth and retention we need to be sure that all
officers and interested members have access to the best training available.
Exchange excels in providing the most comprehensive resources. We have access
to dozens and dozens of topics online, in print, and soon by distance
learning. No member should ever feel
that they are not able to be an officer or director or chair a Program of
Service because they don’t know what to do. We have 11 divisions in
Lincolnland. Every Division Director is going to have a copy of the National
Leadership Training CD. Any club in the Division can access that through the
Director and will be able to set up individual club officer training. We don’t
have to wait for April. We can start now.
Awards
National
provides easy, online access to forms, deadlines for applications, and
reporting of completed Projects of Service. It takes only seconds to find them,
fill them out, and submit them. If you can’t do that yourself, ask the nearest
8 year-old to help you.
Lincolnland
is making great strides in putting every award form, instructions, and
deadlines on our website. Your club committee chairs will be able to access
these forms as needed, fill them out on line and forward them to the District
Committee Chair. Your Club Awards Chair will be able to check on what’s been
done and follow up as needed.
With these
tools Lincolnland should be able to increase dramatically the number of awards
each club receives. At least 75% of us should qualify for the National Service
Award, the Big E, Distinguished Club President, Secretary and Treasurer Awards.
All our clubs should qualify for the 5 As.
Make it
happen!
By Shining
the Light of Exchange, we can meet our goals and have a highly successful year.
