Awards, Awards, Awards: Lincolnland DSA/CSA Chair Lou Molitor has distributed nomination forms (attached) for our district's DSA (Distinguished Service) and CSA (Contributing Service) awards. Exchange Trivia: You may know that the National Exchange Club was formed on March 27th, 1911, so we'll turn 99 years old in three weeks. However, can you match the following Exchange events with the years in which they occurred? 1) The year that the ACE (Accepting the Challenge of Excellence) Award was added to Exchange's Youth Programs. 2) The year that the first Freedom Shrine was dedicated in Santa Monica, California. 3) The year that "Unity for Service" was adopted as our National Motto. 4) The year that the Prevention of Child Abuse was adopted as Exchange's National Program. By oster.michael@sbcglobal.net - 2/20/2010 February 20, 2010 Around Lincolnland Tuesday, February 16th, was a big night for Lincolnland as we formally welcomed the Exchange Club of LMV (Libertyville - Mundelein - Vernon Hills) into our district during their Charter Banquet at Casa Bonita in Libertyville. ALL Aboard? Exchange Club Facts and Figures. Lincolnland District Convention News. The Exchange Club bylaws stipulate that annual club elections be held no earlier than the first meeting in March and no later that the last meeting in April. Mattoon held its 4th Annual Megeff / Exchange Club Double Elimination Pool Tournament on February 13th. The Lake County Exchange Clubs Foundation for the Prevention of Child Abuse Fundraiser will be held at Rink Side Family Entertainment Center in Gurnee Mills Mall from 10 AM to 7 PM on Sunday, February 28th. Exchange Club of Greater Kendall County held a Community Blood Drive on Saturday, February 13th.

By oster.michael@sbcglobal.net - 1/18/2010 January 18, 2010 Around Lincolnland Please see the attachment on Roberts Rules of Order The National Exchange Club Mid-Winter Conference was held in La Quinta, California, on January 7th - 10th. District Presidents and Presidents-Elect met with National Officers, Board Members, and Staff Members. During the conference, National President-Elect Margie Miller presented a summary of her plans for 2010 - 2011, which includes the theme of "Shining the Light of Exchange". Regarding membership, National Exchange was down 576 members for 2009 - 2010 as of December 18th. Lincolnland's membership had dropped by 53 members earlier in the fall, but we've climbed back to being down 35 members after getting a boost from our new LMV Club (Libertyville - Mundelein - Vernon Hills). LMV, which will have their charter banquet on February 16th. In case you didn't know, effective January 1st the Illinois Safe Haven Law allows parents to relinquish newborns anonymously and without penalty for 30 days after birth to personnel at hospitals, emergency medical facilities, and police and fire stations. I'd like to thank Teresia Mueller from Belleville for accepting to serve as Division 11 Director for the Alton and Belleville Clubs. And finally, congratulations go to Beardstown, Naperville, and Quad Cities, which have already qualified for the National Service Award.

Division 11 Director Bill Jones has accepted a new professional position and is in the process of moving to the Baltimore area. Give the gift of Exchange to a friend. Mark your 2010 calendars: Our Lincolnland District Convention will be June 10th - 13th at the Holiday Inn Select in Naperville. District Convention Chair Stan Rocush and the Host Committee are busy preparing for a very entertaining and productive convention. Issue 4—December, 2009 A well-rounded marketing plan, like other plans, will use the “best practices” of everyone. The PR and Marketing Guide published by the National Exchange Club is a good start, and, hopefully, this e-newsletter gives you some ideas. But don’t be afraid to use other venues as well. If you Google “PR and Marketing” on the internet, you get about 77 million hits. Refining the search for not-for-profits reduces that to about 19 million.

The event's featured speaker will be Rear Admiral Mack Gaston, USN (ret.), who had a distinguished military career for 31 years in the U. S. Navy, culminating in his position as Base Commander of the Naval Training Base at Great Lakes, IL. The entire community is welcome to attend this free event.

Hartley to the position of executive vice president effective December 15, 2009. As executive vice president, Hartley will be responsible for fulfilling the objectives of the organization, implementing board policies and managing the day-to-day operation of the National Exchange Club Headquarters in Toledo, Ohio.

The Mid-Year Conference will be on Saturday, December 5th, at the Hawthorn Suites in Bloomington. The next issue of our Lincolnland Link is off to press. Thanks go to Link Editor Jason Koch for another fine job, and thanks also go to "Around the District" reporter Marge Keenan-Denniston and all our Lincolnland Exchangites who have contributed information. The 2009-2010 National and District Youth of the Year theme is "Inspired by the Power of Community Service". We look forward to meeting our Lincolnland Youth of the Year at the District Convention in June. I'd like to thank Grayslake for their hospitality during my visit to their "Evening at Kawa" event on November 12th. Grayslake Exchangites Stephany and Scott Harrington coordinated a fine evening of Mongolian grill cuisine, a murder mystery, raffles, contests, musical entertainment, and an Exchange Club membership presentation. Congratulations to Naperville's Project HELP, which had an open house for their new facility on November 12th. Project HELP, which is the Exchange Club of Naperville's Child Abuse Prevention (CAP) Center. Also, congratulations to Past Lincolnland District President Dave Wentz for serving as Committee Chair of Naperville's Healing Field of Honor.
