Lincolnland Club and District Leaders,

Welcome to Convention Week!  As you know, the 84th Annual Lincolnland District Convention will be held June 10th - 13th at the Holiday Inn Select in Naperville.  For a sneak preview of the convention, please take a look at the attached Schedule of Events.  For the Parade of Banners, make sure your attendees bring along your club banner with the stand.  We're planning on having a great convention, so come join us in Naperville for our Celebration of Exchange!

By the way, for those of you who have signed-up for the Convention Trolley Ride on Thursday, we will meet in the hotel lobby at 4:30 PM A previous communication listed 6:00 PM as the Trolley Ride time.

Are you looking to sneak in a round of golf before the convention on Thursday, June 10th?  If so, then get up early and stop by the Joliet Exchange Club's Celebrity Golf Outing at Wedgewood Golf Course.  Please see the attached flyer for more information.

Awards, Awards, Awards:  It's not too late to qualify for the National Service Award.  Please keep reporting your club's activities and programs of service to National Exchange at www.nationalexchangeclub.org, and receive the awards that your members have earned. 

Exchange Trivia: You may know that Past National President Floyd Culver will be our Official National Representative at the Lincolnland District Convention, but can you match the following Exchange Club National Presidents with their presidential years?  Your choices are 1) Claude Carmack, 2) Floyd Culver, 3) Rob Davidson, 4) Kim Hodges, 5) Margie Miller, and 6) Harold Warren, and the years are a) 1983-84, b) 2006-07, c) 2007-08, d) 2008-09, e) 2009-2010, and f) 2010-11.  Good luck, and the answers are below.

Lincolnland Faces and Places:  Mattoon recently honored six families and business firms with Proudly We Hail Awards for displaying the American Flag.  The honorees had breakfast with Mattoon Exchangites and spoke of their loyalty in flying our flag. … On May 25th, LMV honored Stephanie Smith-Howard as Rookie of the Year and Chief Tim Sashko as Firefighter of the Year.  In their first year, LMV has helped sponsor CYN Take a Step for Kids, the Sexual Abuse Nurse Advocate Symposium, and the Senior Recognition Luncheon. … Gurnee held their 7th Annual Golf Outing at Bittersweet Golf Course on May 25th. … Rantoul's Annual Golf Outing is at Brookhill beginning at 4:30 PM on June 11th.  Rantoul honored Patrick Snyder as their May Exchange Student of the Month. ... On June 1st, Grayslake Exchangite Joyce Campbell was honored with the Key to the City for her ongoing efforts in creating and maintaining a place for kids to go and hang out.  Thank you and congratulations, Joyce! … Quad Cities honored Pieter Hanson with their Book of Golden Deeds Award.  Pieter's efforts have raised more than $100,000 for individuals experiencing life-threatening illnesses and other personal tragedies as well as benefiting other local charities. … Belleville recently received thank you letters for their support of the Rose Society, Food Pantry, St. Baldrick's, and West High School.  Belleville held their very successful Campaign for Kids Golf Tournament on May 13th. ... Several Lincolnland clubs participated in Exchange's GiveAKidAFlagToWave Program during Memorial Day Parades. … Dr. Kermit Harden, retired Superintendent of the Urbana School District, will speak at Champaign's luncheon meeting on June 7th.  66 years and 1 day earlier, Kermit Harden served in the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

And finally, June anniversary congratulations go to our clubs at West DuPage County (44 years), DeKalb-Sycamore Area (17 years), Waukegan (73 years), North Chicago (2 years), Gurnee (35 years), Rantoul (40 years), and Round Lake Area (11 years).  Also, I'd like to congratulate the Shorewood Club for their 3 years in Exchange.  Thank you for your commitment to Americanism, Community Service, Youth, and the Prevention of Child Abuse, and thank you for making a wonderful difference in your community.
