Many natural phenomenon and tasks in nature can be compared
to events and features of Exchange: gardeners ready the dirt, plant and nurture
the seed or seedling, watch in delight as the plants grow and mature, harvest
what is good and share with family & neighbors, receive accolades for jobs
well done, and store the future needs. Exchange has new and returning programs
of service (annuals and perennials) planned and carried out by new and
returning members in new & existing clubs.
Just as natural elements can postpone dedications (the
"I have a Dream" monument in Washington D.C.) and wreak havoc on our
homes and towns (droughts, fires, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, record
snowfall & straight-line winds damage), so too do we weather the challenges
in recruiting new members and holding onto some of our returning ones, in
building new clubs and in keeping our existing clubs vibrant.
Start your tending at home: take a few minutes every month
to visit the Lincolnland and National websites to see what's new and be sure you're
up to date, and read the monthly newsletters. Wear your Exchange clothing and
pins with pride, and keep telling about what we do for each other, what being
involved in our club does for you. show enthusiasm for your club events and get
involved as best your are able. Remember to employ our former Lincolnland and
National President Harold Warren's advice when you have trouble finding balance
between time and opportunity in your life: "I make time for things I
value." I wish you all success in living what you value.
"To grasp and hold a vision, to fix it in your senses,
that is the very essence, I believe of successful leadership" - Ronald
Reagan
Yours in Exchange
